Huia gonna call? Before there was Metalbird, back when it was just Phil and a vague bird shaped idea, the very first huia he made was clutching a smartphone - a playful nod to the things we miss out on when we aren’t present, and a solemn reminder that some things can’t be brought back once they’re gone. After all, the huia is etched on our hearts as one of the most tragic losses of native birdlife, with it’s inimitable beak, gleaming eyes and unique tail feathers that ultimately led to its demise.
The first of just three releases in our legacy collection, our legacy birds are a cheeky twist on the native birds of Aotearoa and our 21st century habits, and make excellent gifts for the truly original, the opinionated and passionate, and anyone quick with a one liner!
